ST WILFRID’s Hospice has launched its ‘Art at the Hospice’ fundraiser, bringing together leading names from the art world to support the Eastbourne charity.

The event features an online auction of paintings, ceramics and photography, alongside a special exhibition at the hospice’s Street Café on Broadwater Way. Works are on display from both internationally acclaimed and local artists, with names including Catriona Millar, Mali Morris RA, Haydn Cottam – winner of the inaugural BP Portrait Travel Award – Deborah Macmillan and Victoria Threlfall.

One of the highlights is a raffle with a unique prize: the chance to enjoy painting sessions with renowned artist Catriona Millar. Tickets cost £5 and are available directly from the hospice, with winners set to be drawn on 16 October during a live auction hosted by broadcaster David Dimbleby.

Supporters can also bid for an exclusive portrait sitting with artist Chelsea Renton at her Lewes studio, plus a behind-the-scenes tour of the Towner Gallery followed by lunch at Light.

All proceeds will go towards supporting St Wilfrid’s Hospice, which provides vital end-of-life care across Eastbourne and the surrounding area.

Pam Russell, Fundraising Director, said: “Not only is this a unique opportunity to own an original artwork, but every raffle ticket you buy and every bid you make in the auction will make a difference to the care we can offer patients and their families. We’re hoping the auction will raise over £16,000 – enough to cover the cost of an average stay for a patient on our Inpatient Unit.

There is a range of art in the hospice.

“We’re delighted that journalist, former presenter, and supporter David Dimbleby will be hosting a live auction — and he’s generously donating one of his own artworks to the online auction. We’d also like to thank all the artists for donating their pieces, and to our sponsors, Eastbourne Gardens Care Home – Avery Collection, for their support,” Pam said.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides high-quality care and support for people across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield (and all points between) with life-limiting illnesses.
