LARGE parts of Hailsham, Herstmonceux and Wartling are left without power this evening following a fault on an overhead electricity line.

Residents reported losing electricity shortly before 6.30pm, with the outage affecting homes and businesses across a wide area.

UK Power Networks has confirmed that the incident was caused by an unexpected fault and was not planned in advance.

In a statement, UK Power Networks said: “We became aware of this power cut at 18:29. We’re sorry for any disruption this may have caused you. We didn’t know in advance there would be a power cut, but now that we know, our teams will do everything they can to get your power back quickly.”

The electricity company said engineers in its control room have already been able to restore power to some customers by switching supplies remotely. However, further work may be required on-site to fully resolve the issue.

The statement continued: “To get everyone’s power back on we may need to attend to investigate and make repairs. We’ll continue to update you until everyone’s power is back on.”

UK Power Networks has advised affected residents to check its website or social media channels for the latest updates. Anyone experiencing additional issues or concerns is encouraged to report them directly to the company.
