HAILSHAM Bonfire Society’s popular Flaming Fun Day will return to the Western Road Recreation Ground on Sunday 28th June from 11am to 4pm, promising a packed programme of entertainment, attractions and activities for all ages.
The free community will feature entertainment and activities for all ages, including live music, family entertainment, stalls, fairground rides, a dog show, miniature railway, games, food and drink stalls, face painting, a performing arena, tug-of-war, charity stalls, a licenced bar and much more.
The Town Council has awarded £4,500 towards the event to help fund promotion, live music, toilet hire, first aid provision, security and associated stage costs. Other event sponsors include Harvey’s Brewery and Tinkers Park.
Town councillor and Honorary Vice President of Hailsham Bonfire Society, Dave Chapman, said: “It’s that time of year again when the Society invites residents and visitors to come together for our Flaming Fun Day. It’s a completely free event for everyone to enjoy and there will be plenty to see and do throughout the day for families, children and visitors of all ages.”
“As a volunteer-led organisation, the Society works incredibly hard throughout the year to support local charities and contribute positively to the community. Events such as Flaming Fun Day not only raise valuable funds but also bring people together and help maintain the strong community spirit that Hailsham is known for.”
“Thanks must go to the Society’s Fundraising Secretary Jo Salmons and her team for all their hard work from the outset.”
Dave added: “We are always keen to welcome new members who would like to get involved and help us continue making our fundraising events and annual October bonfire celebrations bigger and better each year.”
The Mayor of Hailsham, Cllr Chris Bryant, who will be attending the event, welcomed the return of Flaming Fun Day and praised the work of the Bonfire Society and its volunteers.
“As a member of Hailsham Bonfire Society, Flaming Fun Day is one of my favourite local events and a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy a fun-filled day,” said Cllr Bryant. “Hailsham Bonfire Society makes an enormous contribution to the town through its fundraising, voluntary work and community events, and the Town Council is proud to support this year’s event.”
“I would encourage residents to come along, support the Society and enjoy everything the day has to offer. Community events like this play an important role in bringing people together, supporting local organisations and strengthening community spirit within the town.”
