STAFF from Metrobus visited Hailsham this afternoon (Thursday) as part of a roadshow promoting the new Route 500 bus service linking Eastbourne with Gatwick Airport.
The roadshow stopped in Hailsham High Street, where members of the public were able to speak with staff, pick up timetables and find out more about the new direct route.
Metrobus representatives answered questions from residents about fares, journey times and how the new service will operate when it launches later this month.
The new Route 500 service will connect Eastbourne with Gatwick Airport via Hailsham, Uckfield and East Grinstead, providing what operators describe as a more convenient and sustainable alternative to travelling by car.
The service is being introduced in partnership with London Gatwick, East Sussex County Council and West Sussex County Council.
Route 500 is scheduled to officially launch on May 9, 2026.
