Woman seriously injured after collision on A22 near Hailsham

A WOMAN has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the A22 near Hailsham this morning (Wednesday).

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7.30am following the incident, which involved a white Volvo XC40 and a woman who was walking her dog.

The collision happened on the A22 between the Eagles roundabout and the Diplocks Way roundabout, with the road remaining closed in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment, while her dog was taken to a local veterinary clinic. The driver of the Volvo was not injured.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes, with significant disruption expected while the road remains closed.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, including dashcam footage, to come forward.
