Do you remember the windmill at Windmill Hill when it was a neglected ruin?
That was back in the 1990s.
Before the Windmill Hill Windmill Trust.
Windmill Hill Windmill Trust was formed in 1996 to start the work needed to restore the windmill. And after ten years of hard work, the mill was opened to the public in 2006. But that wasn’t the end of the story. The milling machinery had to be restored for this to be a working windmill. And now, in 2026, the mill is fully operational.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the formation of the Windmill Hill Windmill Trust, we are offering some very special tours of the mill where you can meet the people who made the restoration happen, learn how the mill works and see it operating. There are only 45 places available (15 people on each tour) so advance booking is essential. £15pp minimum donation. 11-1 & 2-4 Saturday 9th May; 11-1 Sunday 10th May.
