Beth, Olivia & Lillie, of the 1st Chiddingly Rangers, have proven that a little teamwork and a lot of pancake batter can make a big difference.
On Sunday, 16th November 2025, the trio hosted a well-attended pancake breakfast that brought the community together, raising valuable funds for their upcoming International Guide Camp; Olave 2026.
The event, held at a local community hall, drew families, friends, neighbours and supporters from across the area. Visitors were served fresh pancakes, bacon, sausages, fruit, and hot drinks, all prepared and organised by the girls. Despite their age, the girls took charge of everything from planning and advertising to cooking and welcoming guests.
They also organised a raffle, cake stall and picked apples earlier in the year to press for apple juice, which was all sold on stalls through the morning too.
Their Guide leaders described the morning as a huge success, praising the girls for their enthusiasm, hard work and initiative. They’ve shown real leadership and community spirit. It was wonderful to see the hall full of people enjoying themselves and supporting the unit.
The fundraiser generated more than the group originally hoped for which will go toward their camping costs, with leftover funds will be given to their unit, 1st Chiddingly Guides & Rangers, to cover other girls camping costs.
The Rangers say they are excited to use the money to help fund this amazing international experience and to be able to use this experience to give back to the community in even bigger ways.
Residents, family and friends who attended were equally enthusiastic, complimenting the girls on their efforts and the friendly atmosphere. Many said they hope the breakfast becomes an annual tradition!
They have thanked the local shops that donated goods, enabling the event to happen.
