THOUSANDS of households have been left without water this morning after a water main burst in Berwick.
South East Water says the burst is affecting customers in Alfriston, Litlington, Berwick, Selmeston and as far north as Golden Cross, Deanland and Laughton.
The burst has forced Drusilla’s Zoo Park to close on what is the last weekend of the school holidays. A spokesperson said: “We have been affected by a burst mains water pipe in our area, which currently means we have no water supply across the whole Park. Unfortunately, this makes it unsafe for us to open, and we have no choice but to close the Park.”
In an update from 2:21am this morning (Saturday), South East Water said: “We’re really sorry to those of you who are experiencing low water pressure or no water at the moment. This has been caused by a burst main which we are trying to fix as quickly as we can. As soon as the repairs have been completed, your water will return to normal. We can’t say just yet how long this will take but please rest assured we’re doing everything we can to get you back up and running as soon as possible.
“Bottled water is being delivered to our customers who are on the Priority Services Register.
“Anyone not registered on our Priority Services Register, but should be, can do so at: southeastwater.co.uk/priorityservices”
