A HAILSHAM community initiative that redistributes food, clothing and books to those in need has received a boost thanks to a donation from Lightning Fibre.
The company presented £500 to Pass It On in Your Community, a Community Interest Company (CIC) run entirely by volunteers. Founded in 2022 by three local women, the project was set up to give something back after they themselves had faced difficult times.
The group now supplies around 2,000 bags of free food every week, sourced from individuals, local allotment growers and major supermarkets including Asda, Tesco, Waitrose, Co-op, Sainsbury’s and Lidl.
Alongside the Community Fridge, which redistributes surplus food, the project also provides preloved clothing, including school uniforms and books, all free of charge.
Lightning Fibre’s donation will help cover the cost of running fridges and freezers, as well as providing supplies for children’s Christmas gifts and additional fruit and vegetables for local families.
