DINOSAURS will take over Hailsham High Street next weekend as a free family street celebration brings music, theatre and entertainment to the town centre.
Bumble the Brontosaurus and his prehistoric friends will be roaming the High Street on Saturday, September 5, as part of Hailsham Festival’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
The free event, sponsored by Lightning Fibre, will run from 10am until 2pm, with dinosaur walkabouts, street theatre, live music, magic and children’s activities taking place throughout the day.
Gallery North will host dinosaur-themed arts and crafts, while the town’s street market will also be running during the celebrations.
Live entertainment will include music from Sambalanco and the Seaford Singers, alongside performances of The Hunter and the Gazelle, an acrobatic martial arts street theatre show.
Marco the Magician will begin the scheduled entertainment at 10.30am, followed by the first appearance of the dinosaur puppets at 11am.
The Hunter and the Gazelle will perform at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm, while further dinosaur puppet appearances are scheduled for noon, 1pm and 2pm.
The Seaford Singers will perform at 12.30pm.
Organisers say the celebration is designed to bring Hailsham High Street alive with a festival atmosphere and provide a day of free entertainment for families.
The event forms part of the 20th anniversary of Hailsham Festival, with a programme of arts, culture and entertainment taking place in and around the town.
